Shri Digvijay Singh was born on Feb. 28, 1947. He is the son of Shri Balbhadra Singh , ex-ruler of Raghogarh in Guna district.

Shri Singh received his early education in Daly Collage,Indore. An engineering student from Govindram Sakseria Technology Institute,Indore. Shri digvijay Singh joined active politics in1971.Gifted with outstanding organizing skill , he became the president of raghogarh municipal committee at a young age 22.

Shri Digvijay Singh was first returned to MP legislative assembly on a congress ticket from raghogarh constituency in 1977.He has been a member of Pradesh Congress Committee since 1972.He was appointed the general secretary of MP youth Congress in 1978-79.He was again return to assembly in 1980 form the same constituency and  was inducted as the minister of state in the Arjun Singh ministry . He held the portfolio of agriculture. Later he was elected to rank of cabinet minister and held the portfolio of irrigation.

Shri Digvijay Singh was elected to the Lok Sabha from Rajgarh constituency in 1984.He held the post of MPCC (I) President twice. First he was elected to this post in 1984 and again in1992.He was again elected to the Lok Sabha in 1991 from Rajgarh constituency.

A progressive farmar, Shri Digvijay Singh has a modern outlook towards agriculture . He is also a good player of hockey, tennis and cricket. He has traveled to France, Sweden, England, Holland, Germany ,Switzerland ,Israel ,Hague etc.

Shri Digvijay Singh took over the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh on Dec 7 1993. Shri Singh after being re-elected for Vidhan Sabha  took oath as  Chief Minister on Dec 1 , 1998.

Shri Singh was invited to participate in International Watershed Management Workshop  organize by world water forum at Hague from march 18 to 22 ,2000.A month later he was invited to share with the world community his experience on poverty reduction strategy  held in the special session of United Nations general assembly  at Geneva from 26 June to 30 , 2000.
